SHAD HOTLINE REPORT:

From DELAWARE RIVER SHAD FISHERMEN'S ASSOC

Reports have fish being taken mostly north of Portland at the Delaware Water Gap, Worthington State Forest, and all the way to the Zane Grey Pool near the Lackawaxen River.

Only heard of 2 shad taken at Lewis Fishery over the weekend. One buck shad was netted Wednesday night at Lewis Fishery and 3 shad were caught there last Tuesday in Lambertville, 1 roe and 2 buck.  Also Wed. more than 10 shad were caught at Riegelsville including some nice sized roe.  Shad have been caught all the way up to Port Jervis. Some were caught with flutter spoons with 1/8 oz. split shot while flatlining.  Some are being caught at the Trenton Power Plant and at Yardley. Many herring are being caught at Trenton as well as some stripers. Get the rods out and try your luck and let us know how many you catch!!

Delaware River Boat Access Sites

A list of boat access sites on the Delaware River has been compiled to assist anglers in locating access from the NJ/NY state line downstream to the freshwater license line at the Commodore Barry Bridge in Pennsville, Salem County. (Several sites below the Commodore Barry Bridge are also included.) These access sites are open to the public and are listed in order from north to south. Information was accurate as of September 2003.

The list is available in PDF format, viewable with the Adobe Acrobat Reader, available free from Adobe's Web site). Each site is assigned a number which corresponds to a location on the map. The links below lead to the list and map:

When fishing upstream from the Commodore Barry Bridge, valid New Jersey or Pennsylvania fishing licenses are recognized on both shorelines, and anglers may launch from either shore. Upon returning to shore, an angler may have in possession any fish which has been legally taken according to the regulations of the state in which the angler lands his/her boat.
