Shore Fishing report for June 12th 2010
Saturday, June 12, 2010 at 5:09PM This weekend brings the promise of quite a possible mixed bag for anglers. On Wednesday 2-3lb Bluefish hit the beach in the Island Beach State Park area. Also throw in reports of some decent Fluke being taken in the surf, sprinkled with a few Striped Bass and you have quite a few possibilities surf side.
Boaters have a few more options and a little better access to the fish. All of the major species are available inshore in decent numbers. Striper fishing has been spotty, but Shark inlet charters Fish Head had a great Sea Bass trip early in the week. Bottom fishing for these tasty fish could be a great option this weekend.
In the rivers and bays Fluke fishing has been on fire for those using the proper gear. Catches of 50-75 fish per boat are common although keepers can be hard to find at times. Berkley Gulp 3" and 4" swimming Mullet on a 1/2 oz jig head are a key to success.
