Shad Fishing is alive and well on the Delaware River

It signified the start ot another season of fishing. But in recent years I've been getting reports that the "Shad fishing isn't what it use to be", and "there no more Shad in the river". Well I'm here to to you that just not true. I think we have lost a whole generation of anglers that have forgotten how to fish for Shad.

I just went out with Capt. Dieter Scheel of Big D River Guide Service and he has renewed my love for Shad fishing. Capt. Dieter specializes in fishing for Shad (as well as stripers & smallmouth bass). He has developed a system for fishing for Shad that is simply amazing. We just shot a new show for TV on Shad fishing; the last one we did was 14 years ago. Capt Dieter gave us lots of tips and shared his system for fishing for Shad. The show is in post production right now and I will post a video as soon as its done.
